South Jersey Man Sentenced For Striking Police Officer

A 26-year–old man from Pleasantville was sentenced for resisting arrest, authorities said.

Braxton Afifi was sentenced on Tuesday, May 9 to a four-year term in New Jersey State Prison on the third-degree charge, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office.

On June 17, 2022, Atlantic City Police responded to a call for a domestic incident on Missouri Avenue in Atlantic City. 

While attempting to arrest Afifi, he  resisted law enforcement commands to comply, the prosecutor said.

When police attempted to place the defendant under arrest, Afifi physically resisted, the prosecutor said.

He struck the police officer causing injury, the prosecutor said.

Afifi was subsequently placed into custody.
